Week 3 Iterations

This week has been a bit of a tough week, I found out that I needed to go to London very shortly for a hospital appointment so I worked very hard this week as to be able to give myself a bit of leeway for when it comes for me to go down.

There has been significant progress since my last update, I have been able to nearly finish off the overall blockout of the entire car, not including interior. . A lot of iterations were done on both the front and rear bumper due to my topology being too wasteful and messy. There were iterations done on both the front and rear side panels due to these having a very similar issue to the bumpers, I also had an issue with the side panels where the flow of the geometry was effecting the model once I had smoothed it.

I also added the Nissan and GT-R logos as these were a very simple process of using the create polygon tool to allow me to create this.

I had a lot of issues with the front grill on the car, this stemmed from me not looking at my reference images properly and creating a honeycomb style grill for the car, this caused a few issues inside of Maya which hindered some of my progress for this week trying to fix this issue. In the end I was able to create the quaded mesh grill allowing me to progress further through the model.

The holes on the bonnet proved to be a bit of a challenge to get the correct shape to be able to booline these in to allow for easier and more precise clean up of the Bonnet. I started on getting the glass panels in for the windows and headlights to give the car a more finished look overall whilst I try to figure out the best way for me to do both the front and rear lights on the car. The wing mirrors proved to be quite a challenge to get these to look like the actually mirrors on the car, i was able to achieve this by using the lattice deformer inside of Maya which allowed me to contort the model to how i wanted it to be.

Finally I changed some of the lamberts inside of Maya to give me a rough look at the stock colour scheme of the car, this will be changing down the line.

A few areas I am going to be working on over the next week is cleaning up the windows and finishing off the lights on the car, I may also try to get the Recaro Racing seat modelled which I am going to put inside of the car. I did not reach one of my goals which was to get the car inside of Assetto Corsa, the process was more complex than I first thought when I looked at the documentation, I will not be making everything like mirrors working once I get my car inside of the game as there is a lot of different things which you are able to do, when the main focus of my project is the car itself.

Overall I think I have made massive progress this week and am looking forward to the coming week to be able to make some modifications and dive deeper inside of the project.

Week 11

This week feels like it has been a very slow week due to the isolation measures been put in place, I was hoping this would push me to do...
